Apologetics at John Knox Theological College
The Apologetics course is, by definition, a study in the defense of the faith once delivered to the saints. The history is, by definition, a study in the defense of the faith once delivered to the saints. The history, doctrines and practices of Roman Catholicism, the major cults and eastern religions are reviewed from a biblical perspective. Evolutionary philosophy receives special attention because it attempts to destroy the historical basis of Christianity.
The course has been revised and expanded to include biblical archaeology where this corroborates the historical accuracy of the Holy Scriptures against its critics. Discoveries in Mesopotamia, Palestine, Egypt and elsewhere have also shed light on some of the ancient practices and events recorded in the historical books of the Bible.
The Apologetics course includes 30 lectures (two of which are seminars) held over 15 evenings. In addition, there are three main essays, a two-part field study report and a two hour written examination for those enrolled as level 1 students. Those wishing to pursue the topic less formally are welcome to study at level 3. Assignments and exams are optional for level 3.
